We’ve seen it work before- controversy eleveates an event, a product or even art to a hyped-level all due to squabbling or discussion. Brace yourself, the new move “Dear White People” doesn’t hit theaters until October, but is already making headlines and stirring up those sometimes awkward conversations about race that are perhaps now too important to avoid. In fact, it seems by the trailer that this movie is ready to tackle those questions head on!
“Dear White People” follows four black students as they navigate racial dynamics at their Ivy League college, Winchester University. The film seems to tackle every stereotype, old and new, while maintaining a moving storyline. The clip doesn’t shy away from controversy, as the climax comes with one white character asking: “How would you feel if someone started a Dear Black People?”
